Gündoğan Bay Hotel

Gündoğan Bay Hotel project, located on a plot in Gündoğan, Bodrum, consists of a total of 36 rooms and has a construction area of 3,000 m².

Categorized as a small-scale hotel based on the land size and zoning regulations, the design of the project was shaped by the site’s narrow and elongated form, slope, vegetation, and the needs of both the investor and target users.

The fact that the project is situated on sloping terrain was treated as a key design input. Instead of a single monolithic mass, the hotel was envisioned as a composition of fragmented volumes, aiming to scale the building down to match the local architectural language of Bodrum.

Another significant design consideration was to strengthen the resort atmosphere by creating a continuous open-air circulation route. To achieve this, all building blocks are connected via a distinct red ramp, establishing a direct path between the hotel’s entrance level and the seafront.

To further integrate the structures into the topography, dark-toned local natural stone cladding was used at the base levels of the blocks. Although the zoning regulations allowed for taller structures, this right was deliberately not utilized. Instead, the project was designed as a composition of low-rise, fragmented masses that are sensitive to the surrounding environment, adapted to the natural slope, and positioned to minimize obstruction of views between units.
